What is a crown on implants?

Crowns on implants are placed on the abutment that screws into the implant, to simulate the original crown of the tooth.

Crown on Implant Step by Step

Measurements are taken either digitally with scanners or traditionally with impression materials, so they can be fabricated in the dental lab, with several tests to ensure proper fit.

At ENIQ we do it with a digital scanner and thanks to our digital workflow system, we can make it on the spot, allowing you to go home with your crown without the need for multiple appointments.

In cases of aesthetic or functional needs, the crown can be placed at the same time as the implant, a procedure known as immediate load implant.

Duration

How many appointments are necessary for an implant with its crown?

The appointments for an implant are usually as follows:

  • Placement of the implant in the first appointment.
  • Crown on the implant after three months.
  • Option of provisional fixed/removable for aesthetics or functionality.
  • Measurement taking for the crown and verification in subsequent appointments.
  • Final placement of the crown in a third appointment.

Total appointments: Surgery + review + 3 appointments for the crown (if the tests are satisfactory).

What is the success rate of the crown on implant?

The success of the crown depends on its fit to the implant and the fit in the occlusion. It's important to rehabilitate the entire mouth so that all forces do not fall on that crown or on that implant.

The price of crowns on implants in Spain varies from €600 to €1000, depending on various factors, including the necessary prosthetic components.

It's important to be aware of the budget, as it's common to offer "economical" crowns. However, when adding the required components for their placement, the crown can turn out to be not as economical as it seems, sometimes used as a marketing tool.

It's essential to consult with a dental professional to get a detailed budget that reflects the total cost of the crown and the necessary components to ensure you make an informed and accurate decision.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have more questions about our crowns on implants?

Crowns on implants can be made of materials like porcelain-fused-to-metal, zirconia, lithium disilicate, ceramics, and ceramics with composites.

This depends on many factors such as location, antagonist, and aesthetics. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are becoming less common as more innovative materials like zirconia offer better aesthetics, and less rigid materials like lithium disilicate are less aggressive to the opposing tooth.

Both are good, they are just used for different cases. The choice will depend on the location of the implant and whether the area is more or less aesthetic. The important thing is that the professional who places it provides a correct occlusion to the crown to minimize the possibility of failures in the mouth.
